Marriage is defined in the dictionary as a lawful union between a man and a woman to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc. which formalizes their decision do so. Marriage is also defined as a relationship in which two people ahve pledged themselves to each other in the manner of a husband and wife, with legal sanction. But marriage is much more than just an outward expression or legalized formality; it is without a doubt and ordinance of devine right given by the one true living God himself.
If one truly believes in God, then he or she must surely realize and accept that God ordained the unity of man and woman in the beginning, back in the origin of human existence. From the very creation of man was the fortelling of marriage proclaimed in the book of Genesis, Ch.2, verse 18, when God himself stated that it was not good that man should be alone and that He himself would make him an help meet. See, God Himself ordained the institution in which a man must leave his mother and father and cleave unto his wife, the help meet that was created for him in order to accomplish all that was set before him.
Marriage involves both people to know and keep the vows taken. As man and woman stand before the official performing the ceremony, he and she are not just saying mere words before men, but are making a commitment before God. Vows should be taken seriously and when conflict arises, they should be able to work them out.
Marriage involves great sacrifice; it involves total commitment; it entails trust and honesty; marriage depends on unconditional love by both people involved. Your marriage can work and divorce should never be so readily accepted. It can work as long as the people involved can come together and work out their problems like responsible adults.
Live, love, and allow your marriage to be all that it can be. Enjoy one another and bathe in the matrimony of unity created by the love and commitment of you and your spouse. By understanding the true defintion of marriage, you can enjoy your spouse as it was meant to be and know that love truly does cover a multitude of faults.
